Thistle Bloom

A single wild thistle inspired by wildflowers during the artist’s morning walk in Pune. The ant is like this artist’s signature, a reminder about the equal value of all – a tiny insect may lack size, but not bite. These mauve-purple blooms, mostly ignored, found in many parts of the world, grow just about anywhere – by roadsides, in parks, open spaces, cracks and crevices. Also called silymarin or ironweed, they are used in ayurveda.
